There is a special mountain bike race that is not held in the mountains, but in the streets, alleys, walls and bastions of a castle and city: the Metrinwest CityCross downtown mountain bike race in Kőszeg.
2022 was the 14th edition of this unique competition, where cyclists rode around the historic streets of the Jurisic Castle and its surroundings, and tackled a variety of obstacles. Every year, more and more riders sign up, and this year the pre-registration limit was already reached.
- The competition was created to show the situation of mountain biking in our region - said the organizer Szilveszter Katona.
- Forest off-road cycling has its limits, but we are trying to change that. In the framework of the VELOREGIO project, we are in serious discussions with our Austrian partners, who have created the Burgenland Trail mountain bike attraction in Austria. We would like to join this in the future," said Szilveszter Katona.
